Quest for the Source of Darkness - Book Review

Quest for the Source of Darkness, Patricia Perryยs first novel, has an action fantasy story line with a strong mystery theme and an interesting romantic twist. This is no short novel, at 422 pages youยll be kept entertained for quite a while.

The main hero character is a strong and gifted woman who is stricken with a form of memory loss. Little flashes of memory come to her, but she is frustrated with not knowing who she is and what her origins are. All she can remember is her name, Ramira.

Baffled in a tumultuous world of elves, dwarves and desert nomads, whose inability to co-exist peacefully could spell doom for all. They are forced to work together to battle the evil Mahn and his minions, a variety of demons from the low demons called Kreetch to the terrifying Vox, who are capable of possessing a body and torturing its soul for centuries.

The Elf Kings, Alyxandyr and Gard, and their royal peers - the Dwarf King, Seven, and the rulers of the Herkahs, Zada and Allad - converge together at the gates of grand city of Bystyn. Together their people find solace in numbers while they prepare to battle the sourcerous evil. Ramira discovers her power and learns that she is not meant to be alone. There is also a powerful seer and the hidden elf magic to aid her ย but they all must grow in strength if there is to be any hope at all.

Patricia does not explain things in this novel. Instead, the book expertly unfolds little tantalizing bits to the reader at just the right pace. Quest for the Source of Darkness is a larger-sized book that will take the reader on fantasy adventure for many days.

Exaggerate without Exaggerating

If you're like me you don't like to exaggerate, in fact, quite the opposite, I prefer to understate things and let the facts and results speak for themselves. In the internet marketing game however, if you don't tell people that your product is better than the next person's and list all the reasons why, you'll end up losing out because your customer never had a chance to see for themselves why your product was so good and the obvious choice when compared to your competitor's. This means that, you guessed it, your product has to be the best on the market or at least, beat your competitors in the major areas that appeal to your target market. For example, Rapidforex is a leading foreign currency trading course, arguably the best available anywhere. The course teaches everything that any of the other Forex courses teach plus additional unique techniques. The competitor's products were a sounding board to use the principle of exaggeration. That is, by knowing what was on the market and aiming to beat competitors in every area, the product had to match up to what was promoted! And it did. Other Forex courses offer up to 30 page ebooks free and Rapidforex created a free ebook several hundreds of pages long and better than most that were costing a few hundred dollars. Instead of one strategy, they include more than 30. nstead of a 5 to 10 part mini course, Rapdiforex offers a 20 part eCourse. You get the drift. It may sound like I'm writing a plug for Rapidforex and in a way, I am. The key here is that this website is known to have had massive success and I just so happened to find out the details about it. They took what others were doing successfully and then did it on a bigger scale. The principle here is if you do something that your competitor is doing and improve it, you'll often see an exponential increase in profits as them. So, do your research and find out what others are doing in your chosen market. By doing more than what they've done, you've got a huge chance of success and most competitors won't go that extra mile to outdo what you're offering the market so you'll end up on top. Hope you found this useful and here's to your online success! To learn more about how to build a successful online enterprise and for more powerful concepts, visit http://www.internetprofitmentor.com. Here I found a wealth of useful and free information with over 12 hours of video and a 120 page e-book. There's also a comprehensive free course, a rare jewel amongst lots of expensive courses around.

The Power of Positive Criticism

No more is success limited to intelligence in the field of academics; in fact it is less of it. What has become more crucial is the level of emotional intelligence that sustains your success not just in your work life but in your personal and social life as well. So this book attempts to showcase the value of criticism to help develop and evolve, while guiding you through the process of learning, growth and success. Often criticism takes on a negative connotation and is viewed as unhealthy. However, Hendrie Weisinger, who is a leading authority on emotional intelligence and anger management, highlights how well-intended positive criticism can help and guide us on the path to greater self- awareness, a vital element of emotional intelligence. The author stresses on the fact that constructive criticism primarily involves weighing the merits and demerits of a situation and then evaluating dispassionately on the means and methods for improvement. The book underlines the need for understanding the perspective and motive of the recipient upon whom the criticism is directed. Also the need for exercising care and caution in framing the language of criticism by avoiding negatives, and offering effective solutions to problems are other points covered in the book. Critics can thus take on a mentoring role by engaging the person under the scanner in a partnership fold, so there is mutual respect and understanding to obtain optimum results. Criticism need not degenerate into acrimony; they have a very useful role to play if they are critically weighed and dispassionately judged rather than reacting emotionally. Constructive criticism is one that never attacks the person but rather helps in focusing on the problem and the weaknesses and infirmities in the actions undertaken. Positive criticism can indeed be of great value if it is received in the proper spirit and acted upon accordingly. With elemental suggestions and easy-to-implement simple methods, the author weaves a highly readable book for everyone to read. Any reader who wants to sincerely improve and gain better self control will indeed find this book highly useful.

Affiliate's Guide To success

Affiliate work is a rewarding work at home profession. There are hundreds of companies and small businesses that will pay you a commission for selling their top selling products. There are 2 main ingredients for success. Successful affiliates learn networking techniques and apply them, and the most important ingredient of all is to have a positive attitude. If you have these two things, there are virtually no limits to what can be accomplished.

For anyone new, or old to the affiliate profession it can get extremely tough, Those tough times can make or break, the work at home affiliate. When times are rough it is sometimes easier to just throw up your hands, and walk away, but for the successful marketer there is no walking away, they stick with it, they are patient, and persistent. These people have started a mission and will not quit until they succeed. If this sounds like you than this profession may be just what you have been looking for.

For most people the most difficult times are seen, when they first start out. This is the time to be diligent. As a newbie you have to work much harder than the old timer who, has advertised their web pages and products for years. Most old timers can literally go away for a month or more, and come back to find that while they were gone they made sales. This is known to the industry as auto pilot. For the newbie it will be awhile until their site goes into auto pilot, but auto pilot should be something to shoot for in the affiliate based business.

For the time being there are many ways to get up, and running. The difficult task is deciding how, and where you wish to start. If you are considering trying your hands at being a affiliate. The first thing to understand is that a web page is nothing with out visitors. ( Note: If you do not have a web page there are affiliate groups that will give you links, and some will even build you a web page.) Your web page or landing page is like a store for the most part, if no one knows where you are, or what you have to offer you will not sell any products. The same thing applies to a web page or a landing page, You can have the best web page in the world, and it will not do you any good. YOU HAVE TO GET VISITORS! Don't make it a point to get just any visitor either! Make it a point to get the targeted visitors!

1.) Most importantly, when you join an affiliate group the first thing you need to do is, contact your sponsor. This is the person who is accredited with recruiting you as the new affiliate member. Make it a point to contact your sponsor, Introduce yourself ask for some start up tips. Remember starting up is the hardest thing you will ever have to do in this business, or any other business for that matter. From there it will get easier. So don't be afraid of asking for help. Get help where you can. Your sponsor will be more than happy to give you pointers.

2.) Most affiliate groups have a training course available to new affiliate members. Read them understand them and apply them. In those courses you will get tools, ideas, and links to promote their products. all of them will give you advertising pages or landing pages such as this one http://www.internet5kincome.com/empo.html You should use these pages to promote your products. These pages make things easier for beginners. It allows for the affiliate to concentrate on getting the link out to potential buyers. AKA Targeted Visitors.

3.) Now the time has come to decide on what roads to take. How will I market my new business? This all depends on who you are. If you have money to spend you can advertise anyway you would like to. You can advertise with Google Ad words, or other pay per click (ppc) services, place ads in magazines ect.... The point is there are limitless possibilities. For those on a budget you can advertise many different ways as well, you will need to be a little more creative in your advertising. Advertise through blogs, and forums, to writing articles, reciprocal linking is a good idea (exchanging links with other web sites.),promote through emails (No Spamming please) there are endless advertising methods for both kinds of affiliates. Here are a few free advertising links that I have used in the past to get me started. http://www.internet5kincome.com/freeads.html

4.) Once you have decided on how you will advertise try and get your links in front of people who are looking to buy your products. If I am promoting bass fishing equipment I need to find a captive audience. I need to get my link in front of those people who want to buy bass fishing equipment. There is no rocket science involved here! Ask yourself this question; where are my potential buyers? The beautiful thing about the Internet is, the answers are only a click away. Use the Search Engines for this example I would type in fishing blogs, forums, stores, bait shop, fishing story postings, derby ect... This would be a goof start to finding your customers.

Once your advertising starts flooding the Internet it is almost impossible to stop people from buying your companies products. You would have to shut down your web site, and turn off your links. The rewards can be fruitful, and with the right attitude, knowledge, and products, you will earn a piece of the Internet's great wealth.

Never doubt yourself, and never stop learning, never quit; and the internet income is yours for the taking! I am Michael Ditch from internet5kincome.com

Sorat and the Modern Day Evil

Sorats evil will be spread by his infernal army of soulless followers, willing to give their lives for his pleasure in subjecting mankind to horror of the ultimate magnitude.

The above mentioned quote summarizes one of the main themes in Hearnes political thriller, Hulagus Web. The book suggests that much of the horror, destruction and mayhem that happen in the contemporary world are explained by the endeavors of Sorat, Lucifers terrifying accomplice. It is said that Sorat incarnates every 666 years. 1998 would therefore be the year of his last manifestation. Coincidently, it is the same year that Usama Bin Ladin and his associates publicly declared their Jihad against the West with blatant orders such as We with Allah's help call on every Muslim who believes in Allah and wishes to be rewarded to comply with Allah's order to kill the Americans and plunder their money wherever and whenever they find it.

In his Book of Revelation and the Work of the Priest, Rudolf Steiner describes Abaddons attack on humanity. Abaddon (translated destroyer) is a demonic being born out of the abyss to lead an army of locusts with human-like faces. Rudolf Steiner explains the occult significance of this picture by suggesting that Abaddons army consists of human beings who have been completely deprived of their ego. Sorat can rule on Earth by populating the empty shells of such people with the spirits that serve him. This infernal army would subject mankind to trials compared to which all the horrors of the twentieth century would pale. Coincidently again, Abaddon is referred to in Revelation 9-11, the same date that is now synonymous with the destruction of the twin towers and the attack on the pentagon.

Sorat is described as the strongest power against good. To accomplish his desire of destroying the earth, Sorat would manifest his evil in the social evolution. The wars and mass murders of our time are evidence of his corruption.

The fanatism and the everyday hatred of man against man are evils often disguised as religious dedication and nationalism. Sorat would bend people to his will by using the influence of leaders, be them political or religious. Sorats alleged power lies in the ability to make followers believe that what they do for their fanatic leaders is right. As David J. Hearne says the goal of this demon is to strip humans of their souls, egos and all goodness. Sorat could make horrible acts virtually impossible to eradicate once people become unable to recognize actions as evil.

The video of a hostage being beheaded in Iraq is an example of the horror mankind is subject to. It shows how much influence such a leader can have over others. He would stay back from his disciples, as he directs them to behead the hostage. Whenever the men holding the prisoner looked uncertain, the leader would convince them that what they were doing was the just thing. The scene appears to be a struggle between the leader (persuading) and the followers (resisting). The film shows how the power of evil can pervert peoples senses to such a degree that destruction and horror replace the goodness and compassion in their souls.

The seductive powers of darkness act by using people's vulnerability and weaknesses against them. Terrorists claim their actions are for their love of God. Most of them believe that what they are doing is right. Someone who they see as a prophet or a messenger leads them to believe that they act in Gods will. This messenger is trusted and considered more important than their own lives. Sorat would exploit these people to give their lives for his pleasure in subjecting mankind to horror of the ultimate magnitude, as mentioned in Hulagus Web.

It is difficult to understand why well-intentioned, logically thinking people fall into such traps. How can one induce another to become a suicide bomber willing to die for some obscure cause and kill other innocent people? How can the human mind become so clouded and susceptible to such evil and debasing acts? The answer lies in the fact that many people need something or someone to believe in. Sorat and his progeny would use this weakness to lead those susceptible to their influence. The reasons for their acts are masked, people follow because they need to believe and fail to ask themselves a rational explanation for what they are made to do. Nevertheless, if people saw the true intentions behind these schemes they would not follow. Evil exists as long it disguises itself.

Sorat could only maintain his power by distorting the way people perceive what is good. He would reduce each individual to his level - an entity without soul or conscious. His ultimate objective is to alter the human existence by spreading destruction and misery. Eradicating mercy, benevolence, compassion and humanity (most needed qualities that Christ himself advocated) is the only way Sorat can achieve his goals.

Becherete Adrian (is currently studying management marketing...) believes in the unlimited potential of the human mind and that constant evolution is impossible without striving to understand reality and distinguishing between the meanings of good and evil.

Sports Betting Affiliates: Getting Into The Game Without Risking A Dime

Imagine being able to get a cut of the action in online sports betting. The multi-billion dollar industry is one of the largest current online businesses and with each day the empire expands a little further. With literally millions of people betting each day on various sports and events, it is little wonder how it has become such a lucrative commercial venture. But how would it be possible for an everyday Internet user to get a piece of this industry. With many people unlikely to have the capital to launch and run successful sports betting site, this is an unlikely option. You may also be considering a betting strategy or software program 'guaranteeing' instant results. Similarly these scams require patience and rarely produce on the level that they claim. No, the simplest way to get a piece of the sports betting pie is by becoming an affiliate.

There are no risks, no set up costs and requires very little effort. It works simply as a way of rewarding website owners for bringing new customers to an affiliate site. There are no hidden catches to worry about, the sports betting sites or the related affiliate program will provide all advertising materials, each containing individual URL's that indicate that you have forwarded the player on. From there everything is automated, the sports betting site or affiliate program monitor all the money and the play, leaving them to calculate your daily, weekly or monthly tallies.

As an affiliate you earn a percentage of each of the players you introduce money generated. All the affiliate marketer needs to do is sit back and wait for the checks to roll on in. However the more proactive and business minded affiliate can seek out more customers by simply increasing their own marketing. It seems a little absurd to promote a marketing site but the most successful affiliates need to do this in order to increase their hits. The more hits the site encourages the higher the likelihood that visitors will follow the links and become fully signed up members of a sports betting site.

In return the sports betting sites look after their affiliates by keeping members for as long as possible. If an affiliate is involved in a scheme that rewards them for the duration of a player's lifetime on a site then it is in both their interests to maintain the guests for as long as possible. By offering extra services, opportunities and bonuses to current members the sports betting site stands a greater chance of becoming an individuals preferred online betting sites. The introduction of casinos and poker rooms have also aided the sports sites in attracting wider ranges of people and bringing back old members. With the interest in online betting appearing to be ceaseless it is one of the most exciting and profitable to become involved in as an affiliate.

Tony Morison's Novel "The Bluest Eye" as a Genuine Description of American Culture of 1940s

In Toni Morisons novel The bluest eye we find a genuine description of American culture of 1940s and the process of cultural changes. The events take place in northern America, Ohio in the black community. The novel describes many ethnic problems and social changes of that time. The historical background is the moving of the African American people to the North and their integrating into the society. As they moved they brought their culture and that resulted in opposition and even conflict between white and black cultures.

The main conflict is depicted through the Breedlove family and their complicated relations with the society. As they moved to Ohio they lost their usual surrounding and that can be already a stress factor, and that is shown through the thoughts of Pauline Breedlove when she recollects people and acknowledges that she liked them more. In the north this family faced the poverty and social rejection which destructs the family life and brings to the personal tragedies. They lived under the oppressive white culture dominance, and it is pity, but they did not have enough understanding, wisdom and strength to oppose this dominance and work out their own defense.

This can be observed in the personal stories of Cholly, Pauline and Pecola. Cholly feels oppressed by the white people and impotent before them and thus before this life. So he finds his escape in drinking and hatred which he cannot direct against his real enemy so he pours it on his wife and daughter abusing them.

Pauline experienced tragedy in her life being abandoned as a child she cannot become source of love and support for her family since she herself needs it, that is why she hates her family and moves from them into the white familys house as a servant, it makes her forget about sad things in her family. She hates her husband and children, but she can also love, we see that in her attitude to the white girl whom she calls her white daughter. The character of Pauline represents the main attitude of that time when all the standards of beauty and dignity were built by the white population, and according to them the white people were worthy and right, while the black people were like outsiders and the society left them only role of servants or marginal parts. At that time the balance of black and white cultures was not created yet, and that is why the white possessed more power springing from the American history and determined the role of the African Americans in the society. It is sad how this idea was deeply rooted in the minds of the white and how it influenced the black. This can be seen in Chollys fear of when he was found by the white hunters with his first love, and how powerless he felt that could not show his anger and poured it on Darlene.

The dominance of white culture is especially evident in Pauline. She rejected her children and found her happiness in serving in the house of the Fishers, she felt power in the kitchen where her talents were realized. She is much influenced by the movies, and that is one more factor that created her attitude. Because the movies present the beautiful worlds with white heroes and happy ends. It was created by the white people and presented their ideas and it is sad how Pauline bases her understanding on this perspective. This culture industry created her world picture and influenced Pecola. It also shows the great influence of the film industry at that time and how it created the peoples perception and life. I think, Pecola took this idea of blue eyes also from the movies her mother watched.

The strange desire of Pecola to get blue eyes and become beautiful is another expression of the white culture influence. In that world all the standards of beauty were dictated by the whites, and the ideal for the black was Shirley Temple, ironically they could never achieve this ideal just because of the skin color. Pecola hated her skin color because it made her even uglier as she thought. It is difficult to find beauty in the black where all the beauty standards are white produced, where girls play with white dolls and admire white actresses. And this is really tragic as we see it in the story of Pecola.

Another problem of the book is the racism, it is even more touching since shown through perspective of a child. Pecola is ridiculed at school because of the color of her skin. It is so sad to see how worlds stereotypes appear in the children and how cruel they can be to the people that are not like them. The representative of society is Mr. Jakobowski who ignores Pecola and this is how she gets the idea of her unworthiness and ugliness. We can say that Pecola faces racism from different social parts, and even from her family where her mother rejects and beats her, it seems to me that she sees the evil of the world in her family and children because they failed to make her happy.

It is remarkable that black is associated with bad in the minds of the society as well as in the attitude if Pauline, Pecola and Geraldine. This is especially striking in the attitude of Geraldine who being black herself does not want to have anything common with the blacks and shouts at Pecola when finds her in her house. I think, this attitude is produced by her fear to be associated with blacks, and she tries to escape the problems of the life by forgetting the race she belongs to. She does not want to be black just as Pecola does and it is expressed in her hatred and arrogance.

The main subject of the novel - Pecolas desire to get blue eyes represents the main conflict of acceptance. There is no personal acceptance because many try to be not what they are, and the black people try to become white. There is no social acceptance since the whole ethnic group cannot find its place in the society and equal rights. The tragedy is shown through life story of Pecola but sure there were much more people who longed to change their identity, their race or origin in order to be accepted by the society.

Thus this novel handles the problem of individual and ethnic identity in the situation of the African Americans in the white culture of the 1940s. Toni Morrison refers to such cultural processes as integrating of the black population into the society, the oppressive power of the white culture, the increasing control of film industry, the economical situation and its influence on the personal, family and social stability. This novel is not only personally enriching but also historically significant since it gives rich material on the history of American culture of the 1940.

Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe - A Review

Before we begin to crack open Faustus with venerate instruments tipped with the blood of morality, we need to make our peace with what the definition of morality, as a word, as an expression, as a universal truth is. Then, we need to cartwheel toward what the mechanics of the discrepant channels of morality could be. So, let us pick up that scalpel, polish it out until it blinks blindingly, and begin to dissever with an unmatched callousness and a precision conversant only to unfailing flagrant egos.

Notions of Morality and Morality Plays

Morality is without definition, it is based more on structure but thats so vastly variant that it cannot be called structure, but instead we can ideally define it as a highly malleable sort of conviction within oneself, subjectivity is perhaps the word I am striving to mine out. Morality is subjective. And this subjectivity again does not belong to one man or a set or a faction or a universe of them; this sort of subjectivity is impressive and it is dependable entirely on the solidarity of its conception. Weak minded men bear a delicate sense of morality; resolute men carry morality as their firmest assets. So, morality is subjective and subjectivity is the height of resolution, but, take note, both morality and subjectivity are parallels, even if they share the same source of origin and search the same habits for cultivation.

The intention of anything that surprises the knowledge of the prevalence of morality in men is or has to be handled by the same and set form of subjectivity. Something of this nature is what a Morality play is all about. Morality plays werent critical, seditious or subversive, but still, in a dearth of these attributes they were, most consequentially, didactic. That is, that they gave direction and motive to having an inbred impulse of morality, that could not be employed by perception or deceived in perspective, i.e., that couldnt be impressed upon by subjectivity, and necessitated succoring it with the goal of its preservation. In matters of morality, all or any subjectivity is at a loss and without foundation. And sometimes, men commit the very endemic error of misconstruing morality, instead of subjectivity, as the basis of action. This is perhaps the reason why the very first form of plays, or theatre at its infancy, discussed an issue that though presented levity but enforced the fickle formula of mans favorite fallacy - his morality.

Morality Plays, as is rampant in popular knowledge, resuscitated the oldest hypothesis of Good and Evil, to what man must owe his predilections and what aims he must defend, what he must uphold and what he must scorn. They were didactic not in teaching something exclusive, but conveying the rigidity and grandiose, august austerity of something as non-exclusive as ones own moral preference. They magnified what men must commit themselves to, what men have committed themselves to and what these commitments must aspire to at most and what they must at least encompass; that conduct when bad made for untoward endings and when good, was a sanctioning passport to the pearly gates; that the Bible was as chaste and righteous in its each syllable as the breath of God in Bethlehem; and they helped the oldest notions foster, sometimes the means varied and often the content, but rarely did the intention waver. If you must ask why, recall that this was for the likes and sakes of a broader spectrum of subjectivity that belonged not to the composite nature of one man but the dull indifference of multitudes, and commit multitudes to their common fallacy, and theyll delightfully lap it up, for what wrong can men find in a place wherefrom they derive the premises of whats right.

What authors like Marlowe himself, did was to make such stalwartly puissant and fanatical subjects as endurable and cause to rejoice, they either corrupted their protagonists beyond all reprieve and expiation, or cast them so unsullied, so unblemished by the execrable that all and any of their attributes were extremities and what more, they coded it impeccably (quite judiciously too) with the marveling combo of epithet and noun the Common Man. That, it is to be reckoned, is what bolstered the edifying, didactic element in these plays. As an old song goes, a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down, the masses swallowed up the interfering nature of the play disguised as insouciant, when writers like Marlowe used sartorial writing styles to dress these insinuations up, and tone the commandment-like mandate allusions to moral-preening down, and bedeck them in raiment, idyllic, literary and most crucially passable.

Doctor Faustus Christopher Marlowe gets down with the boogie

Ghosts in attics do not exist in cardinal corporeal form. Neither does morality. However, we bear a feeling for them, like we bear a feeling for the expectation of finding a newspaper on the porch, receiving a call in the afternoon, and getting laid in a brothel. Morality is ghost-like, we bear only a presentiment towards it; it is not something tactile, tangible and talking from personal experience, infallible and in that case, not in the least bit reliable. (Ha, ha, wouldnt that be convenient? Imagine, a guiltless rapist, a superhuman politician and a saintly strumpet!) Christopher Marlowe dishes out his own share of the large palette of morality, and takes up the murkiest nuance and wets the tip of the sable-hair brush sharpened with wetness, dips in an ions worth of resolution and poses in a majestic stance for a coup de grace. Doctor Faustus is a Morality play by the same standards and grounds that any Morality play is a Morality play it confirms morality as a necessity, almost an ideal, and the course of the consequences when its not.

Can you not just imagine Marlowe all dressed up with that very pliable Malacca cane breathing down the nape of you neck and sighing hoarsely, intoning syllables like a foreigner intent on butchering dialect, Moral is Good. Amoral is Bad. Everything else is secondary.?

It was the attitude of an age, and writers are nothing but mediums of attitudes, and if not that, then theyre supposed rebels; Marlowe was not a rebel. Doctor Faustus parades most perceptibly even to the most unprofessional eye that it lugs all the paraphernalia of a Morality Play. It is like a transcendent cricket match: Good versus Evil, nine wickets down, Faustus on batting, last over, and the last sextet of balls, and the blokes pretty much cutting the cropper on each one. Youve got Satan leading the host team and Mr. Almighty heading the adversaries, got Good Angel and Bad Angel in the line up, Mephistopheles to boot and a right wing non-diplomatic, uncompromising demeanor to hack the hole in the floor. Faustus caves in for itching temptations that need the balm of self-indulgent gluttony, and now he must face the repercussions of his blighted, insubordinate-to-moral-values outcast nature. At the end of it, for his deeds and for yielding, he feels up the wrath of a nice boot up his privates, metaphor intended.

Whats all Morality-play-ish about it? It is goddam exacting. It intimates that a pregnant cessation on ones voracity is imperative, that overkill breeds evil and dissatisfaction imports it, that only stern principles of morality can engineer and engender true satiation and no pleasure can aim to compare to the one of rigidity in uprightness, that no man must readily or otherwise acquiesce to the demands that men often make of themselves, the one of surpassing and over-reaching. Too bad, that Marlowe and his chums never saw a Bollywood flick, I can wager my wits that they wouldve loved the picture perfect ending, bad pun also intended.

James Lovelock's Latest Book Trashes Renewables, Endorses Nuclear Energy

On the front page of the World Nuclear Association website prominently rests a quote from what some consider the worlds leading environmentalist and among the worlds top scientists, Dr. James Lovelock:

There is no sensible alternative to nuclear power if we are to sustain civilization. - James Lovelock, preeminent world leader in the development of environmental consciousness

At age eighty-six, Dr. Lovelock has just published his fourth book, The Revenge of Gaia (Penguin Books, 2006). Gaia is Dr. Lovelocks belief that earth is a living, evolving organism, not just a hunk of rock we all live upon. Through his book, Lovelock refers to Gaia, when he is discussing our third planet from the sun. His latest book is a MUST read for anyone who is following the renaissance in nuclear energy. Environmentalists wont read this book. Perhaps their bosses will BAN them from reading this book. Those environmentalists who carefully read Lovelocks latest book may very well become nuclear power lobbyists, if they would bathe, shave and spiff up a bit. Chapter Five, Sources of Energy, will instantly disintegrate every ridiculous argument propounded by the na๏ve and antediluvian anti-nuclear movements across the world.

Dr. Lovelocks credentials and achievements are light years beyond those of any environmental mouthpiece espousing the green movement. More so than anyone alive, Lovelock is first and foremost a giant of the earths environmentalist movement. Since 1974, Lovelock has been a Fellow of the Royal Society. Since 1994, he has been an Honorary Visiting Fellow of Green College, University of Oxford. New Scientist described him as one of the great thinkers of our time. The London Observer has called him, one of the environmental movements most influential figures. In 2003, he was made Companion of Honour by Her Majesty the Queen. Prospect magazine named Dr. Lovelock in September 2005, one of the worlds top 100 global public intellectuals.

How does Dr. Lovelock respond to the question of nuclear waste? He writes, I have offered in public to accept all the high-level waste produced in a year from a nuclear power station for deposit on my small plot of land; it would occupy a space about a cubic metre in size and fit safely in a concrete pit, and I would use the heat from its decaying radioactive elements to heat my home. It would be a waste not to use it. More important, it would be no danger to me, my family or the wildlife. That should enlighten the yokels arguing against the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste depository.

Chapter Five, Sources of Energy, concisely and cogently answers every silly theory about renewable energy sources hyped by the green movement. Lets take Biomass, which makes sense to any concerned citizen. Lovelock even agrees with the theory of Biomass, writing, Used sensibly and on a modest scale, burning wood or agricultural waste for heat or energy is no threat to Gaia. Please note that he modified his statement with sensibly and modest. In a nutshell, he explains why Biomass will not become a leading energy source, Bio fuels are especially dangerous because it is too easy to grow them as a replacement for fossil fuel; they will then demand an area of land or ocean far larger than Gaia can afford We have already taken more than half of the productive land to grow food for ourselves. How can we expect Gaia to manage the Earth if we try to take the rest of the land for fuel production? He added poignantly, Just imagine that we tried to power our present civilization on crops grown specifically for fuel, such as coppice woodland, fields of oilseed rape, and so on. These are the bio fuels, the much-applauded renewable energy sourceWe would need the land area of several Earths just to grow the bio fuel.

Wind power gets shellacked as well. For those environmentalists, such as Amory Lovins, who believe Wind Farms are going to become a significant energy source, they are full of hot air. According to the Royal Society of Engineers 2004 report, onshore European wind energy is two and a half times, and offshore wind energy over three times, more expensive per kilowatt hour than gas or nuclear energy. Denmark, which pioneered wind farms, is regretting the decision. Niels Gram of the Danish Federation of Industries said, In green terms windmills are a mistake and economically make no sense Many of us thought wind was the 100-percent solution for the future, but we were wrong. In fact, taking all energy needs into account it is only a 3 percent solution. Lovelock writes, To supply the UKs present electricity needs would require 276,000 wind generators, about three per square mile, if national parks, urban, suburban and industrial areas are excluded at best, energy is available from wind turbines only 25 percent of the time. German environmentalists, who have recently led the charge for Wind Power, should reconsider. Lovelock writes, The most recent report from Germany put wind energy as available only 16 percent of the time.

Surely, solar power must be the answer, right? Wrong! Lovelock writes, Solar cells are not yet suitable for supplying electricity directly to homes or workplaces, mostly because, despite over thirty years of development, they are quite expensive to make. At the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales there is an experimental house with a roof made almost entirely of silicon photocells. In summer it provides about three kilowatts of electricity, but the cost of installation was comparable with the house itself, and the expected life of the cells is about ten years. Sunlight, like wind, is intermittent and would, without efficient storage, be an inconvenient energy source at these latitudes.

Solar and wind power were just two of the many energy sources Lovelock sends to the dumpster. Wave and tidal energy, hydro-electricity, hydrogen, fusion energy, coal and oil and natural gas all suffer similar consequences under Dr. Lovelocks scientific microscope. Geothermal gets a partial endorsement, but Lovelock writes, Unfortunately there are few places where it is freely available. Iceland is one of them, and it draws a large part of its energy needs from this source. How many of you know that, while natural gas could cut carbon dioxide emissions by half, if used ubiquitously, some of the natural gas leaks into the air before it burnt? According to the Society of Chemical Industrys report (2004), this amounts to about 2 to 4 percent of the gas used. Methane, the main constituent of natural gas is 24 times more potent a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide.

Fusion sounded great in theory, but when I discussed it with Dr. Fred Begay, at the Los Alamos National Laboratories, this past November, he told me it may take fifty years to develop, if it ever could be developed as an energy source. Lovelock explains in his book why Fusion Energy would be wonderful, but he brought up the one point, which stymies nuclear physicists (and which environmentalists wont even talk about), the nuclear fusion of hydrogen yields millions of times more energy than its mere combustion, but to start the powerful reaction requires some means of heating the hydrogen to 150 million degrees. How exactly go you go about heating something on earth up to 150 million degrees, when the core of the sun has a temperature of a little more than 100 million degrees? Again, great theory and work is being done in this arena to bring about a solution sometime this century, but this technology remains in an incubation stage.

The most shocking and disturbing discussion through Lovelocks book was the problem with carbon dioxide emissions. The burning question these days is WHAT to do with nuclear waste. Lovelock believes we should start worrying about what to do about carbon dioxide emissions waste, The worlds annual production of carbon dioxide is 27,000 million tons. If this much were frozen into solid carbon dioxide at -80 degrees Centigrade, it would make a mountain one mile high and twelve miles in circumference. To sequester this much each year could not be achieved quickly probably not sooner than twenty years from now. He added, If only had developed and installed the equipment for removing carbon dioxide from power stations and industry fifty years ago, we would now face surmountable problems. Another problem with carbon dioxide should give you nightmares or reach for a gas mask. Carbon dioxide, according to Dr. Lovelock, has a complicated removal with an effective residence time of between fifty and a hundred years. About half of the carbon dioxide we have so far added to the air remains there. That means the carbon dioxide we add to our existing air pollution will still be breathed by our children, grandchildren and their children. How is that for a legacy?

James Lovelocks Conclusion on Nuclear Energy

How does James Lovelock feel about nuclear energy? I believe nuclear power is the only source of energy that will satisfy our demands and yet not be a hazard to Gaia and interfere with its capacity to sustain a comfortable climate and atmospheric composition. This is mainly because nuclear reactions are millions of times more energetic than chemical reactions. The most energy available from a chemical reaction, such as burning carbon in oxygen, is about nine kilowatt hours per kilogram. The nuclear fusion of hydrogen atoms to form helium gives several million times as much, and the energy from splitting uranium is greater still.

Through his book, Lovelock reminds us that nuclear power is the single answer for this century, We need emission-free energy sources immediately, and there is no serious contender to nuclear fission.

Lovelock addresses Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, nuclear testing in the 1960s, and many other events over the past fifty years, as nuclear energy has developed. If you wondered about radiation and cancer, Lovelock answers that as well. You may leap up, after reading those pages, and start faxing them off to every environmentalist group you can contact. It may be the most definitive analysis of the disconnect the media and the greens have about nuclear energy and its impact on our health that you have ever read. Lovelock concludes, The persistent distortion of the truth about the health risks of nuclear energy should make us wonder if the other statements about nuclear energy are equally flawed.

One specific question that has puzzled me, for a number of years, was this: How many people die to produce each of our energy sources? The table below answered that question. The comparative safety of the different energy sources comes from the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland in a 2001 report, which Lovelock reproduces on page 102 of his book. The Institute examined all of the worlds large-scale energy sources and compared them against their safety records. The numbers of deaths were expressed in terms of terrawatt year of energy made, between 1970 and 1992. A terrawatt year (TTY) is one million million watts of electricity made and continuously used throughout a year.

Fuel Fatalities	Who Deaths per TTY Coal 6400 Workers 342 Hydro 4000 Public 883 Natural Gas	1200 Workers and Public 85 Nuclear 31 Workers 8

Lovelock does not simply endorse nuclear, as an idle thought. He is passionate about nuclear energy as a life-saving measure, My strong pleas for nuclear energy come from a growing sense that we have little time left in which to install a reliable and secure supply of electricity. The important and overriding consideration is time; we have nuclear power now, and new nuclear building should be started immediately. All of the alternatives, including fusion energy, require decades of development before they can be employed on a scale that would significantly reduce emissions.

He concludes his masterpiece of Chapter Five of The Revenge of Gaia by writing:

Meanwhile at the worlds climate centres the barometer continues to fall and tell of the imminent danger of a climate storm whose severity the Earth has not endured for fifty-five million years. But in the cities the party goes on; how much longer before reality enters our minds?

Advantages of Offering a Dental Benefits Plan to Employees (Part 2 of 3)

Important factors while finalizing on a Dental Insurance Plan An employee has to ask himself the following before he finalizes on a plan: Would the employees like to retain the freedom of choosing their own dentists? Will the mode of treatment be determined by the patient and the dentist? What type of routine and preventive dental care is covered? Does the plan cover braces, oral surgery, crowns and bridges, root canals and treatment of periodontal diseases? Will the plan cover all diagnostic, preventive and emergency services? Including preventive services viz. sealants & fluoride treatments, which might result in financial savings to the patient in future? Does it provide for full-mouth x-rays? What forms of major dental care is covered? Does the plan cover implants, dentures, or treatment for temporomandibular disorders? Does the plan allow for specialist referrals? If so, has the dentist be limited to "the" list of specialists to choose form? Does the plan provide for emergencies? What are the provisions made for emergency care when the patient is on tour? What percentage of monthly premiums goes into actual care and not to administration? Dental Insurance benefit coverage should be taken into consideration but should not be the deciding factor in choosing the treatment. Dental Insurance Plan Models There are numerous dental plans available. Basically they are of two kinds: Managed care and Fee-for-service. Managed care dental plans are restricted forms of dental insurance which aim at reducing costs and payouts. They tend to restrict the coverage by limiting the access to care by restrictions (by predefining dentist, specialist, hospital or treatments in form of lists) and restricting level, type and frequency of treatment (usually in form of clauses in the coverage policy). Fee-for-service dental plans have a freedom of choice options where one can choose their own dentist and the fee is paid as fixed by the dentist.

I Hear Gaea - Book Review

I have to say that I found this work simply breath-taking from the first poem on. Tessa Crigger focuses on issues of conscious living, anti-racism, natural resource consumption, the necessity of finding alternatives and the importance of the individual. At the end of the book, she gives readers a glimpse into her personal life, which I think was helpful in understanding the author.

Her unique style made me feel teleported to a warm night, a warming campfire and sitting quietly while listening to ancient stories and lessons orated by elders. It was a wonderful feeling.

Tessa insists upon the power of the individual: "act upon these things and turn no more blind eyes, become what we were meant to be and at least give it a try". Her passion for the health of the planet is quite admirable.

I was honestly so taken with what Tessa had to say, I even wrote the following quotes out for my bulletin board: "Nations are built upon it and wars are fought to keep it, when all along we should be looking for a way to heal it" and "The children must be given more than a picture or a museum, the nature of our planet cannot be found in a coliseum".

Though a little long, her poems had many valuable thoughts to share and did not seem to ramble or get redundant. I truly believe her work will help influence others to make an effort for a positive change. Just like ripples in the pond, each one of us can have a very real and important impact, even with the smallest of actions.

Everything a beginner need to know about Affiliate Marketing

Understanding affiliate marketing from top to bottom, from left to right is a MUST in doing online business. (Or if you just want to create some profit in the cyberspace, affiliate marketing is the way to go)

Before fighting your war, you should sharpen your sword!! Let's put in your due diligence to examine some of the definitions for Affiliate Marketing in cyberspace:

**This is a system of revenue sharing between one site (the affiliate merchant) which features an ad or content designed to drive traffic to another site (the advertiser). The affiliate will receive a fee based on the amount of traffic generated.
Defined by internetworld365.com

**A system of advertising in which site A agrees to feature buttons from site B, and site A gets a percentage of any sales generated for site B. It can also be applied to situations in which an advertiser may be looking for marketing information, rather than a cash sale. Popular among startups with very small marketing budgets.
Defined by expedite-email-marketing.com

**A business relationship with a merchant or other service provider who allows you to link to that business. When a visitor clicks on the link at your site and subsequently makes a purchase from the merchant, you receive a commission based on the amount of the sale, a referral fee or a pay-for-click fee.
Defined by showtheworld.com

If you are familiar with offline marketing models, in fact, affiliate marketing share the very same nature as Network Marketing or MultiLevel Marketing (Through sharing a good service or product with people, you are compensated with commission). Of course, usually affiliate marketing tends to have less layer commission payout than offline Network Marketing or MLM. Affiliate Marketing usually pay until first or second layer only.

Why should we start our online business or create our profit from Affiliate Marketing?

Yes, this is a million dollar question. There are tons of reasons. Look, now I want to give you the TOP 5 reasons.

1. You DONT need to crack your head to come out with your own product. The products are already there. Be noted!!! Coming out with your own product is as difficult as stretching your hand to reach the star for most of the people, especially for newbie in Internet Marketing business.

2. Literally, you can choose from an INFINITE number of products for you to affiliate with. Moreover, you call the shot to choose only the best products (in term of quality) to recommend to your customers.

3. The third reason, if you overlook it, good luck to your business. Affiliate Marketing is the most money & time saving to start with. To come out with your product, you need extra cost and more importantly your precious time (it worth a lot to me, I believe it is same to you). By using affiliate marketing, you are risk free in promoting other people product. What if you put in all the TIME & MONEY to create your own product and then you again PUT IN all the TIME & MONEY to promote it but all effort comes to zero or gives you a bad sales, would you want to take the risk?

4. You don't need to write your sales pitch. NO SALES COPYWRITING! When you recommend people product, the best sales pitch is done by the creator of the product.

5. You don't have to process the orders once people click your affiliate link. The merchant handle all the processes needed for sales. Besides, the merchant also deals with the customer problems.

All these are what I want to share with you about Affiliate Marketing. Hope you can benefit from this humble piece of information.

Cookbook Author Incorporates Central Florida's Natural Resourses in Her Recipes

"The Bounty of Central Florida" by Valerie Hart

Although Harts cookbook incorporates Central Floridas regional foods, I found that I am able to get the majority of the ingredients in Texas even Key Limes. I only found one item, Wood Duck, that is solely regional, but Hart gives the option to substitute Quail or Cornish Hen.

Perusing The Bounty of Central Florida my attention was drawn to Key Lime Cheesecake. It is rich, but light, and full of flavor. The Pecan Crust makes an ideal base for this cheesecake. The Best Flaky Pie Crust is short and browns well, however, makes a larger batch than indicated. For brunch, the Low Fat Blueberry Coffee Cake is ideal and goes well with a freshly brewed cup of coffee. The Chiffon Cake took be me back to my childhood when my mother made one for every Sunday. Rich and creamy is the Hollandaise Sauce and very easy because its made in a blender giving it a guaranteed smooth texture.

The Bounty of Central Florida has easy step-by-step directions to follow and majority of the ingredients can be found in most kitchens. The pages are glossy and easy to wipe and the center has wonderful colored photos of many of the dishes. The Bounty of Central Florida is a must for anyone who enjoys simple cooking with an elegant flare.

Walking With The Gruffalo

A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood
A fox saw the mouse and the mouse looked good

This is the start of the popular children's story written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Alex Scheffler.

Plot
A mouse goes for a walk in the woods. He meets an owl, a snake and a fox, who invite him for lunch. The mouse wisely suspects that he might be the main course and refuses, saying that he's lunching with the gruffalo. He describes some of the gruffalo's more offputting features to the animals and manages to continue his walk until, to his surprise, he comes face to face with the real gruffalo, who wants to eat him. The mouse then uses a bit of ingenuity to attempt to save his skin.

Book description
The book comes in lots of varieties. There is a 24 page board book (which is the one I have and which retails at $4.99) and a large format paperback book, similar to others in the series. The front cover shows a picture of the mouse and the gruffalo and there are colorful illustrations on every page, not just of the main characters, but of their homes and surroundings, providing plenty for both children and adults to look at. The style of illustration is a bit strange (lots of bulging eyes and faces) but the animals are recognizable and you soon get used to it.

Rhyme time
The story is told in rhyming verse. As with most children's book, there is repetition of the essential elements as the mouse encounters each animal and by the third reading, my daughter was able to fill in the words at the end of each line (wood/good; mouse/house; no/gruffalo) as well as to fill in the parts of the gruffalo's body described in the early part of the story. A year later, she's repeating whole phrases and it probably won't be long till she knows the story by heart.

But will they learn anything?
It's a very good story, but there are also educational elements as well, if that's what you want. While reading this story, your offspring can learn the names and living spaces of the different animals, as well as parts of the body and colors.

What we thought
For a short time (two year olds can be quite fickle) it was my daughter's favorite story, which had to be read at least five times a day. Even now, a year later, it is a story she requests regularly.

I love this story too and never get tired of reading it (which is perhaps just as well). It's great fun to read aloud because of the rhymes and the voices you can do for the different animals. The cleverness of such a small creature is also attractive to small readers. This is a story that is destined to be on our bookshelf for quite a while. I look forward to the day when my daughter can read it to me.

Beyond the Gruffalo
There is a sequel, The Gruffalo's Child, as well as an audiobook titled The Gruffalo Song.

My daughter and I loved the story so much that we were delighted when she received a couple of other books by the pair: The Snail and the Whale and Monkey Puzzle. I've also bought The Smartest Giant in Town (also sold as The Spiffiest Giant in Town in the US) and have A Squash and a Squeeze and Room on the Broom firmly in my sights. All of them are great stories and are available at around $10.Many have audiobooks and other add-ons to go with them.

Final word The Gruffalo is suitable for all ages and has everything you would want in a book, whether for adults or children: great characters, good plot and a twist in the tale. Don't miss it.

Book Review Warriors, Workers, Whiners, and Weasels

We all know a Weasel. You know, that person that threatens to take down your organization by using every sleazy tactic in the book to advance their careers regardless of how it effects others. Warriors, Workers, Whiners, and Weasels: The 4 Personality Types in Business and How to Manage Them to Your Advantage by entrepreneur Tim O'Leary takes a refreshing look at the different personalities we encounter and how to handle them.

The premise of the book is that essentially everyone fits into one of four personality groups Warrior, Worker, Whiner, or Weasel. O'Leary defines each as the following:

Warriors, who confront change, see possibilities, innovate and manage to win!

Workers, who deal with the ups, downs and challenges of everyday corporate life dependably, and who can reliably implement the change and direction established by the Warriors.

Whiners, who get through life by complaining about everything they do, who profess negativism and dissatisfaction wherever they go, and blaming others for their own shortcomings.

Weasels, who lurk everywhere and threaten your career and life-goals through their own deception and insecurity and who spread these feelings quickly throughout the organization.

The book is designed to help you recognize what group you fit into, give you the necessary tools to get to the group you want to be in, and learn how to effectively deal with people in each group. The book really does a great job of forcing you to truthfully analyze yourself. O'Leary warns you that you might not like what you find, but also is quick to point reinforce that you are in control and that you can make the changes in your life to fit into the group that you desire.

Even more interesting (and fun) is visualizing the people you know and placing them into their appropriate categories. We have all encountered a Whiner or Weasel and it helps to know what makes them tick and how to effectively deal with them so that they don't negatively impact your life. O'Leary uses the analogy to the common cold you can't completely eliminate Weasels from your life but you can take precautions to limit the frequency in which they enter your life and the damage that they do while they're a part of it.

O'Leary uses a mixes light-hearted humor with a fiercely intense attitude to combine a business book and a self-help book in an exciting fashion. One chapter might focus on a self-analysis, the next might be about personal stories from O'Leary's experiences, and the next about management. The book is well over 200 pages but reads at the speed of a book that's half that. I often found myself reading several chapters in a sitting, which is a testament to the writers ability to hold readers interest. If there's a downside (and it's not much of one), it's that O'Leary is so brutally honest that it may rub some people wrong, especially those who fall into the Whiner and Weasel groups.

Warriors, Workers, Whiners, and Weasels: The 4 Personality Types in Business and How to Manage Them to Your Advantage by Tim O'Leary is a must read for every entrepreneur, business owner, manager, and worker wishing to learn more about themselves, take advantage of their best traits, and protect themselves from those who could sabotage their career.

Forever In Our Hearts

In June of 1952, two little girls are taken from their comfortable home with relatives on Capitol Hill to live in an orphanage. The two children are daughters of a Filipino immigrant who, in those days, as a single parent, could not keep his children. Herein begins the story of Ms. Smith's life in the orphanage.

The book covers Ms. Smith's growing up in the orphanage along with her sister (who was one year younger). The daily struggle and routine, along with the compassionate care of the Sisters makes for a great read.

The building, the grounds and the people of St. Vincent's Orphanage are sketched by the author in a most compassionate way. Photos at the end of the book show how things used to be in that time gone by.

St. Vincent's Orphanage is long gone, a victim of progress and urban growth. However, the building, the Sisters, Father Adler and the memories of the children cared for live on in Nita's book.

You will gain insight into the upity-up of Washington at the time: the Kennedy family sponsoring pool parties for the children,Bobby Kennedy helping the children, a visit to the White House by some of the children, visits to the Alsop house in Georgetown, and much more.

Forever in our Hearts is a dear story. A story of sharing, caring and love. It is also a story of loss and children experiencing the effects of family alcoholism. Ms. Smith relates her childhood experiences as if she were sharing them to you in front of a cozy fire, not as a writer...almost as a confidant.

Fascinating times, fascinating people, fascinating events in a bygone era make for a wonderful story.

Forever In Our Hearts is, in my opinion, is one of the best personal memoirs of this decade.
